Co are looking to support social investment in GM and working closely with Andy Walsh of FC United to develop and link them to an Angel syndicate to provide capital.
Social investment is an important part of the objectives of the GM Strategy to tackle social issues, and as part of the Economic Solutions, Co works to provide long term support for these businesses. Launched in November 2014 Co is the new investment platform for GM and is building syndicates of business angels to connect to GM businesses in need of investment, including those tackling social issues.
Co provides a full range of support services to businesses, ensuring their investment readiness, whilst also facilitating potential angel syndicates to invest in these businesses.
Social Angel Investment allows business angels to invest in start-up and growth businesses for both social and financial returns and the sector is currently seeing significant growth across the UK. As social investment develops, social entrepreneurs are benefiting primarily from the expertise, networks and then finance that angels can provide, while at the same time, increasing numbers of angels are discovering compelling business propositions that allow them to do good whilst also doing well.
