FinTech companies from the United States with plans to expand into the UK have been given a whistle-stop tour of Greater Manchester’s industry cluster.
The FinTech mission, highlighting innovative technologies emerging from across the US, is the first of its kind promoting inward investment into the United Kingdom. It was led by the Department for International Trade and while in the city region, hosted by MIDAS, Manchester’s inward investment agency and Deloitte.
The four-day mission, which included a visit to the London Stock Exchange, enabled companies to network with industry experts and commercial contacts, indispensable to international growth. The companies were also guided through necessary processes should they decide to relocate business operations here. The visit also showcased the many exciting expansion opportunities into the UK’s tech sector, reinforcing the UK’s reputation as the FinTech capital of Europe.
During their day in Manchester, Bridge 21, Spend Labs and Sphere Co received a warm Greater Manchester welcome which kicked-off with a breakfast reception and overview of the region’s FinTech landscape.
The delegates were then given the opportunity to meet sector specific companies and stakeholders at Barclays Rise, the Co-operative Group’s digital hub and the conurbation’s four universities, to better understand how Greater Manchester’s FinTech ecosystem can support their international expansion plans.
